“At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me…but the Lord stood with me and strengthened me…and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen”
~2 Timothy 4: 16-18

The apostle Paul faced and endured much persecution in bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ unto the Gentiles. Yet through all the trials and even threats of life, the proclamation was fully accomplished, and the Gospel was heard.

Beloved, the same faithfulness of God in supplying the strength to endure is promised to you this day. In some instances Paul had no one to support him as he followed the will of God faithfully. At times he was even deserted. It’s one thing to have no one around to support you; it is another thing to have those around you leave you, especially when you’re trying to do what God wants you to do.

No matter how ferocious the circumstance, the Lord will rescue you. In fact, the Lord will bring you safely through every evil deed of the enemy. Through every trial, temptation, and persecution the Lord will enable us to keep trusting in Him as He holds us. Perplexed, struck down, afflicted, and persecuted but not despairing, not destroyed, nor crushed, and never forsaken because Immanuel is with us. He will bring you safely home, beloved, to His kingdom through grace, guarded by peace in your heart and mind, with a joy that comes from your salvation and the assurance that nothing can separate you from the love of God and His mercies that are new every morning.

To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

In Christ alone.
